We're proud to announce we've been asked to sponsor the back of a shirt for a newly formed rugby league club for the 2020 season.....Liverpool St Helens Rugby League Club!!! Thanks to Martyn Griffiths a member of the Brotherhood who is part of the management team approached us. He asked if we would like to do this and to say we're humbled and excited is an understatement. This is the start of great times for 2020!! As part of the launch of the new club they are selling squares to local businesses for £25 each, there are 40 in total and the winners will go into a prize draw. TWO lucky winners will be the named sponsors of the Club Leisurewear and ONE further to be a player sponsor for their chosen player. We ran a festive competition on Facebook and Twitter between 18th-20 December to get our social media message from Santa out by asking our social networks to like our pages and sharing his message to win an #Excitable Edgar. For those who don't know he was this years Christmas mascot from the John Lewis TV advert. As the song says "It's the most wonderful time of the year", but Christmas for some is the worse time of year due to missing loved ones and loneliness. We at HIMvisible and HIMvisibelle wanted to get our loyal followers to spread Santa's wishes about mental health and how to stay safe over the festive period. Two winners were picked at random using woobox who were Ann Richardson and Kerry Fairhurst, the picture above is of both of them with their new lovable Edgar soft toys. πŸ’šπŸ’š. We hope our winners enjoy the prizes!!

The 19th December started out just like any other day until a message from a stranger out of the blue changed everything. My husband Steve received a message saying that a local lady Julie Hartley had won a competition for the best Christmas dressed log burner, we may be biased but think her fireplace looks stunning! Julie decided that she wanted to donate the £500 winnings to HIMvisible & HIMvisibelle to help support our mental health groups and make a difference in her home town. To say we are still shocked by her generous donation is an understatement, we are run by volunteers and so every penny we raise will go into supporting people in both our mens and womens groups. Thank you Julie it means the world ✊ We will never let go!

We joined in the 7th annual 5k Santa Fun Run on Sunday 8th December sponsored by Wish FM around the fantastic Mesnes Park, Wigan. W e joined hundreds of Santa's turning Mesnes Park red to complete the 5k dash route, e veryone who took part was given a fantastic festive Santa suit to complete our 5k in, typically Ste's number was 69 and I split my trousers before we even set off!! On completion of the 5 laps round the park we were given a celebratory Turkey sandwich, mince pie and mulled wine. Our run had entertainment provided by Chris Millow at Wish FM with festive Christmas music! A good family day out which we thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be doing it again next year.

To say I’m proud of my husband Steve Thornton right now is an understatement, he’s been shortlisted as a finalist for a Pride of St Helens unsung hero award for his hard work and commitment to HIMvisible and his mission to break the stigma about mental health in men. We didn’t even know he’d been nominated so to be a finalist is very humbling and testimony to the hard work and energy he’s given to the cause since he started the charity in May this year. He never got into this to make more money or win awards, he’s just a St Helens raised woolly back who wanted to help men in his town. This is just the start of our journey as a charity and we aim to help as many people as possible! https://www.sthelensstar.co.uk/news/17983824.revealed-pride-st-helens-2019-shortlist/ It’s Ok not to be Ok #WeWillNeverLetGo #Proud

Figures released by the Office of National Statistics show that between 2015 to 2017, St Helens had a suicide rate of 17.9 – more than 80 per cent higher than the 9.6 national average. There were 29 recorded suicides both in 2017 and 2016, with 25 recorded 2015. HIMvisible was started to try and lower that number and to promote to men that it's OK not to be OK and that no man should secretly struggle with mental health issues. We offer a safe private group to help any man who may feel that things are not right in their minds. Read our story - here.... https://www.sthelensstar.co.uk/news/17836579.dad-of-two-considered-suicide-created-support-group-help-men/ You are not alone, you have a brotherhood here to help you.
